Will I still meet the anesthesia team at surgery?
Yes, absolutely! Even if you’ve already had a pre-op consultation, you will still meet a member of the anesthesia team on the day of your surgery.
Yes, your anesthesia consultation is usually covered by insurance, just like other pre-surgery checkups. Every plan is a little different, though, so it’s a good idea to double-check with your insurance company to be sure.
If you’re feeling sick before your procedure, like having a cold, cough, fever, or stomach bug, it’s important to let your doctor or anesthesia team know right away. Even mild symptoms can affect how your body handles anesthesia and recovery. Your medical team will decide if it’s safe to go ahead or if it’s better to reschedule. It’s always better to speak up so you can have the safest experience possible.
If you have heart problems, it’s really important to let your anesthesia team know during your consultation.
